Web Quests

Project Based Learning is great because it allows students to see different students points of view on things as well as the students are able to apply their learning to things that interest me. Problem Based Learning is a great tool for students reasoning and trying understand different problems and working through them. Inquiry based learning is a helpful tool to get students to be active in their learning so it isn't just lecturing all the time.

Web quests are a combination, but I think as a student you are searching for answers to questions. I like this type of learning skill, because it can be fun and interesting for students. I am excited to do it.

Copyright

It is always important to know your copyright laws. It is never a good idea to get yourself in s position where you could be accused of copyright infringement. I did pretty good on the quiz, but it was a great refresher for me.

Power Point

I really enjoy working with power point, it gives presentations a whole new flavor. I am having a lot of fun in this class. I have never done a hyperlink before and so that was a new challenge for me trying to figure that out. I finally got it done. That can make learning fun too.

Group Project

I had a really good time doing the group project. It was fun to work with powerpoint. I enjoyed getting the different perspectives from the different students. Ginny and Angie are both talented students soon to be teachers.

YETC and Other Resources

That is a really neat resource. I didn't know all this existed online for teachers. I thought everything we did had to be done on our own and now that I know their are so many available resources teaching doesn't seem as overwhelming. However I am sure getting started the first year is still a struggle. I am excited to explore these opportunities even more through this class and my career as a teacher.

Lesson Plan 1 "The Creation"

Well this has been interesting, because of the different classes I have had, I have currently never had a methods class for writing lesson plans, however I have been writing lesson plans because some of the upper level classes I have taken has required this of me. So I looked online to find some good examples of what I could follow. I used the UEN website and looked at different lesson plans under my subject area but couldn't find one to really match the idea I had to incorporate technology. So I used my different professors model lesson plans and my own plus the ones I looked at on UEN and came up with a basic structure of a lesson plan. It is very simple but so is my lesson. I thought using a computer game to practice times tables could really encourage students to enjoy math. I did third grade, Mathematics, "Computer Times Tables" and the website I used was UEN, https://online.uen.org/webct/urw/lc129121021.tp0/cobaltMainFrame.dowebct.

Web 2.0 Part 1

I am into this whole blogging idea now that I know how to use it and do it. I think the idea that it was just one more thing that was confusing was because I didn't want to learn how to do this. Now that I have done this I really like it and hope to be able to incorporate this idea into my life throughout all aspects. I really like the ability to stay in touch and communicate with people around the world.

UEN

The Utah Educational Network seems like a really great tool to use during teaching. I also agree that allowing the parents to be involved in their students learning is important and using the means in which the students are learning is good for the parents to also learn. I am hoping to use this tool for my future teaching and involvement with the parents and students.

Today's Students

I found this movie extremely interesting. I didn't realize how much i don't know about the technology today. My mother who is a librarian in a high school knows more about technology because she deals with it everyday. I am excited to learn more in this class so I can better facilitate my students in the future.

Hi1 My name is Kassie Robbins and I am from Vernal. I am seeking a degree in Elementary Education with a Math Endorsement. I love my summers. I work as a river guide on the Green, Yampa and Colorado rivers. I love my job, I love nature. I am excited to finish school! I am very grateful to lighten my load this summer by taking a few courses throughout my summer, although it is a little hard for me because I love to play especially in the summer. Being a teacher should be a great career choice for me.
